What Homeowners Ask
Utah County Remodeling and Permit Questions
Which Utah County cities and towns do you work in?
We work in every Utah County city and town, from Alpine in the north to Goshen in the south. For a community not on the list, send the address and we will confirm.
Can I add a basement apartment in Utah County?
Inside a Utah County city or town, yes, as an internal ADU, when the unit is in a detached single-family home you occupy as your primary residence and the lot meets the local conditions. Those conditions can include an area of more than 6,000 square feet and a location outside any zoning district where the city or town prohibits such units. In unincorporated areas, Utah Code 17-80-303 and the county's rules apply. We confirm them before design begins.
Does Utah County issue building permits for Lehi or Provo?
No. Utah County's Building Division serves unincorporated areas only. In Lehi, Provo, and every other city or town in the county, the municipality itself issues the permit.
