Can I build an ADU in Daybreak?
Yes, but only above a detached or semi-detached garage, under South Jordan's ADU guide. Parking is set by the Daybreak Development Standards Matrix.
How large can a detached ADU be in South Jordan?
Half of the main home's living space or 1,500 square feet, whichever is smaller. The unit sits at least 10 feet from every property line, plus 1 foot of setback for each foot of height over 16 feet, and rises no more than 5 feet above the home, with 25 feet as the cap.
Do I need an ADU permit in South Jordan if I will not rent the unit?
Not for an internal unit you will not rent. The building permit submittal instead includes a notarized affidavit stating that the space with its own kitchen and bathroom will not be rented out.

The South Jordan Building Department issues them through its Online Portal. The department's number is 801-446-4357.
